Web developer in Johannesburg for websites and web apps
I build websites and web apps for small businesses, teams and organisations in Johannesburg and across South Africa. Some clients need a clear website that tells their story and shows up when people search. Others need a working system behind it: enquiry forms, ticketing, memberships, payments. I'll help you work out which one you actually need, and I'll explain every choice in plain language.
Start a conversationWebsite or web app? The difference in plain terms
A website mostly informs. It tells people who you are, what you offer and how to reach you. A web app lets people do things: register, pay, enter a tournament, check a score, log in to see their own information.
Many projects start as the first and grow into the second. Where most people see a website project, I look at the system underneath: the bookings, the follow-ups, the manual steps your team repeats every week. That is often where a website can save you the most time.
What this looks like in real projects
TMEG Financial Solutions came to me with no website at all. They wanted to put capital in the hands of township entrepreneurs and needed a way to explain that to strangers. I built pages for their story, values, co-founders, services, partners and outreach, with contact forms that land straight in their inbox and links to loan calculators and application systems. The site is live and receiving client submissions and loan applications.
Sweet Tooth is the brand of a Johannesburg dessert chef who hosts tasting experiences. Her site has a page for each event with the Quicket ticket widget built in, so visitors can buy a ticket without leaving the site. The enquiry form asks what kind of enquiry it is first (tasting event, private experience, corporate event, collaboration) and then shows only the questions that matter. The site is live at itssweettooth.co.za.
At the bigger end, I built the national federation system for FootGolf South Africa, which I'm currently taking live: memberships and PayFast payments, tournament entry, hole-by-hole scoring, rankings and club governance, all in one platform.
Built to be found on Google
A website nobody finds doesn't do much. Good search visibility isn't about stuffing keywords into pages. It's about being clear about who you are, what you do and where you do it, and giving Google that information in a form it can read.
On the Sweet Tooth site, for example, every page carries structured data: a short, machine-readable description of the business, each event with its venue and tickets, the FAQ and the page's place in the site. There is a generated sitemap and a canonical address on every page so Google doesn't get confused by duplicates. I build with fast, modern tools like Next.js and Tailwind CSS so pages load quickly on a phone.
How we'll work together
Every project follows the same steps: discovery, planning, design, development, testing, launch and support. You get regular updates on the channel you prefer (WhatsApp, email, Slack or video calls) and weekly check-ins, so nothing surprises you at the end.
If your message is still taking shape, that's normal. With TMEG I built a rough skeleton first so they could see how the pages might flow, then we moved things around together until it felt like them. When the design kept changing, the fix was a clearer conversation about the brand, not more redesigns.
Based in Johannesburg, working across South Africa
I'm based in Johannesburg, so in-person meetings are possible for local clients. I also work with clients across South Africa and internationally over video calls and shared tools.

Common questions
How much does a website cost?
It depends on scope: a simple site, a full web app, or something with custom integrations and payments. On a discovery call we'll talk through your goals, and I'll send a quote based on what you actually need.
What are your payment terms?
Usually a 50% deposit to start and 50% on completion. Larger projects can be split into milestone payments.
Do I get the code when the project is done?
Yes. After launch you get a full handoff with documentation, training if needed, and all the source code.
